Our Story
SARAH WOOD | MASTER UPHOLSTERER
I’ve always been drawn to antique and vintage furniture, there’s something very special about peeling away the layers of history and bringing a piece of furniture black to life.
Having a creative career was always a pipe dream until I had the opportunity to change direction.
I trained with the AMUSF (Association of Master Upholsterers & Soft Furnishers) in Traditional & Modern Upholstery and Soft Furnishings.
My background was training, so it was, perhaps inevitable that I would return to teaching again.
I’ve always felt teaching to be a privilege, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a student have the skill and confidence to start their own business or for an enthusiast to transform their home.
I've had the pleasure of meeting many crafters over the years, sustainability is a large part of why my clients wish to have their furniture reupholstered and why many of my students wish to learn upholstery.
Whatever your reason for wishing to learn upholstery or soft furnishings, Mode would love the opportunity to introduce you to these wonderful crafts.
