Would you like to immerse yourself in a week of traditional or modern upholstery?
Our 5 day course gives you the opportunity to work on a more extensive project of your choice. At MODE Upholstery School we are dedicated to help you achieve this. You will receive a very high level of tuition as we limit our number of upholstery students to a maximum of 6.
This course is designed for all skill levels. The environment we offer enables you to work at your own pace in a friendly and productive space providing you with the skill and confidence to continue upholstering.
Your lead tutor Sarah was trained by the AMUSF and qualified as a master upholsterer in 2008. She has been teaching upholstery since 2012, so you can be assured that you will be in safe & knowledgeable hands. You will be guided step-by-step through the preparation and rebuild of your chosen project, be it a recover, re-upholster or up-cycle.
Depending on your experience and project you will be:
- Introduced to specialist tools and how to use them.
- Clean and make good the framework, carry out basic frame repairs (please be aware major repairs may need a skilled carpenter).
- Learn about different wood finishes from painting to French polishing.
- Rebuild and upholster your chosen product using traditional or modern materials and methods sympathetic to the age of your furniture.
