Sprung dining chair upholstered to calico stage.	The beginning of this traditionally upholstered fluted nursing chair in lovely contrasting velvets.
Frame cleaned and prepared before wrapping the chair back in cotton calico on this Victorian Iron Frame/Crinoline chair.	There are no limits to upholstery. You have complete design ownership.

This frame was painstakingly restored to it's original colour before being reupholstered it using traditional upholstery methods and materials.	Making quick work of creating button holes in this reconstituted foam for a modern deep buttoned footstool.
First time upholstering a sprung arm on this traditional armchair. Well done.	Another fine example of deep button work on this traditionally sprung large footstool/coffee table.
The dust cover/bottom cloth is just as important and the parts of the chair you can see.	Hats off to this student for her work and perseverance The button work is excellent, congratulations on good tension, keeping your fabric straight vertically & horizontally
Pattern matching is so important, especially with strips and checks.	Coir (coconut husk) before and after regulation.
Through stuffing ties are an important part of the upholstery process ensuring the coir remains in place.	Great pattern matching.
Stitch work on the inside back of his Edwardian Gentleman's chair in preparation for button work.	We also carry out repairs in the workshop. There's no guarantee the frame will be in good condition underneath the upholstery.
Great pattern placement ensuring the fabric flows from the inside back and seat of the chair.	Another nice example of a fluted nursing chair.

A pair of traditionally upholstered drop in seats with a modern twist. The frames have a gold leaf layer applied in top of a painted frame.	A recover project of a modern armchair with shallow buttoning.
A pair of dining chairs. One overstuffed & one traditionally sprung. Covered in a rich green velvet & contrasting gimp trim.	Making sure the pattern placement is spot on.
A lovely example of an over stuffed seat and pin stuffed inside back. The frame was prepared and painted in a rich complimenting cream.	Great pattern placement on this footstool. We love the piping details on the bottom edge.

I cannot recommend Sarah & her courses highly enough.

Sarah is a patient and nurturing teacher. I was very nervous as I had no knowledge of upholstery. I was so pleased with the results and never thought I could produce a chair and footstool with such a professional finish. Sarah’s knowledge and ability to instruct in a way you can understand is excellent. I’ve learnt so much and have booked my 3rd course in August.
Look forward to seeing you in the summer to make ‘coir clouds’.

I chose to do a day course with Sarah as she is registered with the AMUSF and having recently completed the AMUSF Diploma myself, I recognised the level of proficiency required by Sarah to be accredited with them.
I went with the specific aim to practice traditional upholstery techniques and found her to be informative, attentive and highly professional.
I enjoyed the experience so much I then booked and completed a traditional lampshade making course with her and would not hesitate in attending another course.

She has a lovely friendly working atmosphere in her workroom and it is a small class so everyone gets lots of expert help from Sarah. I am a complete novice and Sarah has been so patient, and kind, her immense knowledge, calm and clear explanations and instructions, as well as her positive and sunny manner have helped me to achieve an immense amount on my first foray into the complex world of upholstery.
